Synchronization License is the permission that is obtained from an artist or record label, songwriters and/or publishers to use his/her music in advertisement, movies, games or any motion picture.
Synchronization Royalties is the amount of money or compensation that the artists or record label, songwriters and/or publisher receives from whoever obtains the license for use of the music.

This license is obtained with written terms stating the extent of rights that is being given to the licencor (party that wants to use the music) whether it is exclusive or non-exclusive, the amount or compensation for use of the music (royalties), whether talents credits will be given or not & so on.
Without obtaining this license, the 3rd party can be sued for infringment of intellectual property by the artist/record label/songwriter or publisher.
