Terms to look out for in Endorsement Deals/Contracts

Endorsement Deals are more than just signing & posting on social media with the caption "Just bagged this one", it can help, limit or destroy your career. Aside from the basics of a contract:- Terms, Territory, Definitions & Termination/.Exist Clauses, there are certain clauses that set the tone of an endorsement deal or contract.

Clauses that are very important and should be looked out for includes:
1. Obligation Clause: number & frequency of social media posts, number of appearances, other obligations expected by the brand.
2. Moral Clause: this clause gives the company the power to suspend or terminate the agreement in the event that you commit an act that falls within the behavior covered under the clasue fare speicifc & no limited to as few negative instances as possible.
3. Renumeration/Compensation: the benefits of an endorsement can come in different forms so its advisable that it is clearly stated. One time payment, Monthly payment, equity, sponsorship of shows/events and so on.
4. Rights of Publicity: this clause refers to your rights to protect the unauthorized refers to your rights to protect the unauthorized use of your image or likeness.
